The FIG Design Story

Hi, I’m Ashley, the heart behind FIG Design. I’m so glad you’re here !

This business is the result of a lifelong dream that began long before I ever had a name for it. Growing up, I was surrounded by the world of building and design. My dad was a general contractor, and our home was his canvas, constantly evolving to better fit our family’s needs and reflect who we were becoming. From watching blueprints come to life to tagging along on job sites, I learned to love the process of creating a home from the ground up.

But what really shaped me was the way my parents poured love and intention into every corner of our home. It wasn’t just about beauty - it was about belonging. Our house was full of life, filled with stories, and always ready to welcome friends and family. That combination of functionality, warmth, and meaning left a lasting impression on me.

Over the years, my passion only grew. I found inspiration in old things… antiques, auctions, and flea market finds, and learned to appreciate patina and pieces that hold history. I began dreaming of a design business that felt personal, one that could help others experience the kind of thoughtful, intentional spaces I was lucky to grow up in.

With the constant encouragement of my husband, Mark, and our two daughters, Isabella and Georgia, I finally took the leap. FIG Design was born ! And with it, a new chapter.

The name “FIG” holds deep significance for me. It’s an acronym of our names: Fenton (Mark’s full name), Isabella, and Georgia. These are my people. They truly keep me grounded and constantly inspired. And beyond that, “FIG” stands for something even deeper: my Faith In God, which is the foundation this entire dream rests on.

The fig tree itself is a beautiful symbol of the kind of work I strive to do. It takes time and care to grow. It needs tending, patience, and vision. And when it matures, it’s fruitful in the most satisfying way. Design is no different. It’s not a quick process, but rather is layered, intentional, and requires a deep understanding of how people live and what brings them joy.

At FIG Design, I bring that same spirit to every project. Whether you’re building from scratch, remodeling a kitchen, or refreshing a room, I approach each space with care, creativity, and purpose. My goal is to help you create a home that not only looks beautiful but feels like you—a place where life happens, where memories are made, and where the design serves the way you live.

This business reflects everything I value:

  • Family and friendship as the heart of a home

  • Inspiration, integrity, and intentionality in every detail

  • Generosity and grace in how we serve our clients and community

I’m so thankful to be doing this work—and even more thankful for the clients, collaborators, and community who trust me with their spaces. I’d love to help you create a home that tells your story, too.

Thanks for being here. Let’s celebrate all things home - together !

Warmly,
Ash
