A Letter for November

Dear FIG Friends,

A few thoughts I have had this November ….

We are only promised today. So how do we live each day with intentionality , purpose, and motivation for self and others?

I find this to be a beautiful and deeply meaningful question—and a reminder that the present moment is truly all we ever have. Living each day with intentionality, purpose, and motivation for both yourself and others means approaching life with awareness and heart. It's not about making every day monumental, but about choosing to live it awake, grateful, and kind. Here are a few ways to do that:

  1.   Begin the day with stillness and intention. Before diving into the noise of the world, take a few quiet moments to set your focus. This might mean a short prayer, meditation, journaling, or simply breathing deeply and asking yourself, What kind of person do I want to be today? Intention shapes action-when you start with clarity, you're more likely to move through the day with purpose instead of on autopilot.

  2.   Practice gratitude for the ordinary. When we pause to notice what's good right now like warm sunlight, laughter, a kind word, a body that carries us—life expands.

Gratitude shifts our attention from what's missing to what's already here. Try naming three things you're thankful for each morning or evening. Over time, this simple act changes the way you experience your days, helping you see beauty even in routine.

3. Choose presence over pace. We often mistake busyness for purpose, but real fulfillment comes from presence. Slow down enough to taste your food, listen fully when someone speaks, or feel the texture of the world around you. Presence allows you to connect deeply—with yourself, with others, and with life as it unfolds.

4. Do something kind each day. Living with purpose isn't only about self-improvement; it's about impact. A small act of kindness—a smile, a sincere compliment, a thoughtful message, can shift someone's day and ripple far beyond what you can see. Being intentional with how you treat others infuses your days with compassion and connection, which are powerful motivators.

5. End the day with reflection, not regret. Before bed, take a few minutes to look back on your day with reflection and honesty. Ask yourself: Did I live true to my values? Did I give and receive love? What did I learn from this day?

Reflection is how we turn experience into growth. It allows us to meet tomorrow not with regret, but with wisdom and hope. To live each day with intentionality is to recognize that today is both fragile and full.

It's to slow down enough to be awake to your own life—to move through it not as a series of obligations, but as a collection of moments worth noticing. When you live this way, you begin to understand that the most meaningful life isn't built in years, but in days well-lived-mindful, purposeful, grateful for today.

"The purpose of life is to live life with purpose.

Without a reason for living, life has no meaning."

Blessings to You,
